What I learned from doing it all (so you don’t have to)
For 16 years, I gave everything to my teaching career – every ounce of energy, every spare minute, every “I’ll just finish this one thing” evening. I said yes to everything, took on too much, and thought that being capable meant never asking for help. Sound familiar?
Spoiler alert: I burned out. Completely.
And it wasn’t just a bad day or a rough patch. It was full-on burnout that made me stop in my tracks and rethink everything. The scary kind that forces you to ask, “Is this really sustainable?” (Answer: absolutely not.)
That turning point changed everything. I walked away from that career – something I never thought I’d do, and I gave myself space to breathe, recover, and rebuild on my terms. That’s how I became a Virtual Assistant. And not just any VA – one who knows what it’s like to try and do it all, and the toll that can take.
So, what is the cost of doing it all?
We often talk about burnout like it’s a buzzword, but it has real consequences:
- Your health suffers (hello, stress and sleepless nights)
- Creativity? Out the window.
- You’re too busy putting out fires to work on the big picture
- Every task feels like a chore, even the ones you used to love
Worse still? You start believing this is just “part of the job” when really, it’s a sign you need support.
Now, as a VA, my whole mission is to help business owners not end up where I did.
You don’t need to carry it all. You don’t need to juggle 10 plates and pretend one isn’t about to smash. You’re allowed to ask for help – whether that’s with your inbox, your client onboarding, your social media, or just getting your systems out of your head and into something organised.
I’m here to take the pressure off, not pile more on.

What makes my approach different?
Because of my own experience with burnout, I don’t just “do tasks.” I get it. I know how overwhelming it can be when your brain feels like a browser with 47 tabs open.
I work with a range of clients, but I especially love supporting neurodivergent business owners. Why? Because traditional ways of working don’t work for everyone. And that’s okay. Together, we can find rhythms, tools, and systems that feel good for you – not just what some productivity book says should work.
Whether that means working with clear step-by-steps, offering regular check-ins, or adapting how we communicate, I’m here to support in a way that fits you.
One thing I’ve learned since moving from a hectic, people-filled career to working from home is how quiet things can get – and not always in a good way. That shift from constant buzz to solo working can be tough, especially when your motivation needs a bit of a push.
That’s why I offer things like body doubling sessions (yes, just being present with you while you work – surprisingly powerful!) and brain dump calls where we get all those swirling thoughts out of your head and into something manageable. They might sound simple, but they’re incredibly effective – especially for neurodivergent clients who thrive on external structure or a bit of gentle accountability.
Sometimes just having someone “there” makes all the difference.

So, what are you really paying when you try to do it all?
Here’s the real cost:
- Missed opportunities because you’re buried in admin
- Time away from your family or the things that actually bring you joy
- Creative burnout and mental fatigue
- That constant guilt that you’re never doing enough
Hiring a VA isn’t a luxury – it’s an investment in your business and your wellbeing.
You’re allowed to ask for help
Trust me, I’ve lived through the burnout so you don’t have to.
You’re allowed to protect your time. You’re allowed to take things off your plate. And you’re allowed to have someone in your corner who actually gets it.
If you’re ready to stop trying to be everything for everyone and start building a business (and life) that actually works for you, not against you – I’m here to help.
